Where Summer Comes Alive

What makes a summer experience unforgettable? The environment in which it unfolds and the daily rhythms of living with friends. At Berkshire Trails, our facilities and the structure of bunk life work hand in hand to give campers a summer home full of adventure, comfort, and connection.

Nature, Location & Surroundings

Nestled in the Berkshire region, Berkshire Trails offers warm, sunny days with cool nights - a perfect climate for both activity and rest. Camp also arranges off-camp trips - hikes, museums, local attractions - that connect campers to the region beyond the gates.

Facilities That Support the Experience

Our campus includes:

  • Skate Park
  • 6 Tennis Courts, 4 Basketball Courts
  • 2 Baseball/Softball Fields, multiple Sports Fields, Roller Hockey Rink
  • A 20,000 sq ft Indoor Fieldhouse (gymnastics, basketball, fitness, parkour)
  • A Circus facility (trapeze, arts, bungee trampoline)
  • Beach Volleyball
  • Waterfront with sailing, canoeing, kayaking, wakeboarding, tubing, paddleboarding, and swimming
  • Art Center: ceramics, jewelry, photography, video, podcasting, cooking, and more creative spaces

These amenities mean campers never run out of options, even on rainy days or when they want to explore new interests.

Bunk Life: The Core of Community

At the heart of camp is the cabin - the place where daily life happens, where friendships form, and where campers learn to live and grow together.

  • Cabins house 6–12 campers plus 2–4 counselors, depending on age.
  • Every cabin has indoor plumbing (toilets, sinks, showers), storage, and outlets.
  • Counselors live in the cabin environment, guiding campers day and night, fostering safety, connection, and support.

The rhythms of bunk life, morning routines, rest hour, evening conversations, sharing stories before sleep, become a daily framework for growth in empathy, independence, and trust.

How Place and People Interact

Having strong facilities is just one side of the coin. The magic happens when campers and staff use them together. A camper might start in the art studio, move to climbing, and end in a late-night campfire conversation in the cabin. The place enables the possibilities; the relationships bring them to life.

Tips for Visiting & Visualizing

If you come for a tour:

  1. Visit the cabins and picture the bunks filled with energy and laughter. You’ll see how the layout fosters connection, comfort, and community.
  2. Walk the waterfront and imagine a summer afternoon - swimmers splashing, paddleboards gliding, lifeguards keeping a watchful eye.
  3. Tour the indoor fieldhouse and outdoor courts, where campers play, train, and discover new skills.
  4. Step into the Arts Center where creativity flourishes - paintbrushes, clay, cameras… Even when quiet, the space invites imagination.

Ask these questions:

  • Which cabins house which age groups?
  • How often are cabins cleaned or maintained?
  • What’s the backup plan (indoor space) during inclement weather?
  • How do counselors interact with campers during rest and evening times?

Final Thought

Berkshire Trails is more than a collection of fields, cabins, and studios - it’s a living, breathing environment designed to nurture relationships, spark passions, and hold space for children to become more confident, connected, and curious. The land is our stage; bunk life is our heartbeat.
