First Time Campers

A New Experience

Attending overnight camp is a meaningful milestone—one that brings endless opportunities for growth, independence, and fun. At Berkshire Trails, campers build confidence as they form friendships, learn to navigate group living, and discover the joy of working together in a supportive community.

First Time Away From Home

We understand that being away from home for the first time can feel exciting and a little overwhelming. That’s why our team is dedicated to helping first-time campers feel comfortable, cared for, and set up for success. Here are just a few of the ways we guide campers and families as they explore, choose, and prepare for their Berkshire Trails experience:

New Camper Get-Together (May)

In May, we host a special orientation for new families. Parents attend an adults-only session where we share tips on packing, arrival day, and how to support your child as camp approaches. At the same time, new campers break off to enjoy fun activities, meet staff, and start making friends—helping everyone feel prepared and excited for the summer ahead.

Pre-Camp Open House (June)

Meet our staff, connect with families, tour camp, and enjoy fun activities—a great way to start the summer with excitement!

Camp Tours (Summer)

Schedule a tour. See Berkshire Trails in action. Walk around, watch activities, and help your child imagine themselves here.
