Meet The Director

Tedi Schaffer

Camp Director

Tedi has over 20 years of professional experience in the camp world. She fell in love with sleepaway camp as a camper and followed that passion to Camp Taconic where she worked for 13 summers. She started at Taconic as a bunk counselor and rose through the ranks, becoming a Group Leader, then Girls’ Head Counselor, and finally Athletic Director. Tedi also has experience at Crestwood Day Camp, where she served as a division leader for preschool aged children, fostering their growth with care and enthusiasm.

Known as the “Queen of Color War,” Tedi’s knack for creating unforgettable special events brings joy and excitement to every camper. Her vibrant energy and dedication make camp a magical place where lifelong friendships and memories are made.

Tedi holds a degree in Physical Education and Health and a Master’s in Special Education. During the school year, she teaches and coaches in NYC, where she also lives. When not at camp, Tedi takes advantage of all NYC has to offer, exploring museums, attending shows, trying new restaurants, and she recently took up pickle ball.
