What is an ACA camp and ACA Accreditation?
Berkshire Trails is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), the nation’s leading authority in youth development and camp standards. ACA accreditation means our camp has voluntarily undergone a thorough review of our operations—from staff training and qualifications to health and safety procedures and emergency management.
The ACA partners with experts from organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Red Cross to ensure camps follow the most up-to-date, research-based practices. By choosing an ACA-accredited camp, families can feel confident knowing that Berkshire Trails is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and fun environment where campers can grow and thrive.
What is your camper to staff ratio?
In every bunk at Berkshire Trails, we maintain a camper-to-staff ratio of at least 5 campers to 1 counselor.
What is your cell phone / technology policy?
Campers at Berkshire Trails may not bring cell phones or any electronic devices that connect to Wi-Fi, cellular service, or can transfer data.
We recognize the important role technology plays in everyday life, but we believe camp should be a place where children can take a break from screens and social media. At Berkshire Trails, campers are encouraged to be fully present—spending their days building friendships, engaging face-to-face, and enjoying the simple joy of living in the moment.
Our no-phones policy helps campers disconnect from outside pressures, gain independence, practice self-advocacy, and grow in confidence. By looking up from their devices, campers can connect more deeply with others, embrace new experiences, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Staying in touch
Campers can call home using camp phones during designated times or with permission from a director or head counselor. They’re also encouraged to send letters through the mail. For families, we use a third-party photo app called Campanion, which shares daily pictures of campers throughout the summer. The app also allows parents to send “Letters”—virtual notes that we print and deliver to campers each day at rest hour.
What is Campanion?
The Campanion app is the best way to see photos of your camper throughout the summer. Be sure to set up your account by linking the Campanion app with your Berkshire Trails CampInTouch family account.
