Leaders In Training
11th Grade
Lead, Inspire, Repeat
The LIT Program, (AKA Trailblazers) at Berkshire Trails Camp is a hands-on leadership experience designed for rising 11th graders who are ready to take the next step in their camp journey. This selective program blends responsibility, skill-building, mentorship, and fun—preparing participants to become confident, capable leaders and future staff members. Successful Trailblazers will be eligible to apply for Junior Counselor positions the following summer.
Grow & Shine
Throughout the day, LITs are immersed in real camp life:
Assisting in Camper Activities side-by-side with counselors, learning how to support, motivate, and guide younger campers.
Choosing Elective Activities they personally enjoy to maintain their own camp experience and passions.
Rotating through Apprenticeships in key program areas—Sports, Waterfront, Outdoor Adventure, Arts & Crafts, Theater, Media, Operations, Office Support, and Health Center Assistance—gaining practical skills and exploring potential areas of interest.
Participating in Leadership Workshops led by senior staff where they develop essential skills in communication, conflict resolution, inclusion, public speaking, problem-solving, safety awareness, and professionalism.
The Trailblazers Program is more than a training track—it’s a transformational summer of growth, purpose, and mentorship that prepares teens to become the next generation of Berkshire Trails leaders.
In recognition of their commitment and contribution to the camp community, each Trailblazer (LIT) will receive a $500 stipend upon successful completion of the two-week program.
